Mary loves working with people age 16 and above who have been affected by trauma, anxiety, and depression. She has special interests in chronic pain, illness, religious trauma, and faith transitions. She enjoys supporting people during challenging thresholds of life when the journey of becoming invites us to cross over from one way of being to another.
Her counseling approach is shaped by being a mother of three and draws on 12 years of experience as a Spiritual Director. These experiences have taught her to trust in each client’s innate wisdom and capability to heal. She approaches healing as a whole person endeavor that involves mind, body, and spirit. And she firmly believes that compassion, for oneself and others, transforms us.
In counseling work with Mary, you can expect genuine welcome, collaboration, and respect for the context of your life. She brings warmth and presence while offering resources to navigate change and invitations to experiment with gentle shifts to old patterns.
Mary has training in IFS, mindfulness, somatic interventions, and motivational interviewing, with further training underway in IFS, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, ACT, complex trauma, and ADHD. She is strongly committed to LGBTQIA+ affirming care and allyship.
Outside of counseling, you’ll find her cozied up with a good book, walking in the woods, sharing a good meal with friends and family, or admiring her extensive rock collection. GET IN TOUCH: Mary@transformationaltherapymn.com
